Our client is a global specialized and branded multinational pharmaceutical firm with a presence in both emerging and mature countries and has a more than 150-year history. They employ more than 9000 people in 70 established offices in over 50 countries, and their high-quality, low-cost medicines benefit the health of patients in over 150 nations. Through their core business sectors, they focus on marketing and manufacturing a diverse range of post-patent, branded pharmaceuticals, and domestic brands for both hospital and consumer markets. Manufacturing and Commercial Pharmaceuticals, which include Regional Brands and Sterile Focus Brands, are their primary business segments.

 

You will oversee Europe & Middle East regions and report directly to the Marketing & Business Development Head. This is not a managerial position, i.e. you will not have any direct reports.


Goal:


Analyse market gaps, license portfolios, and make acquisitions to sustain the Healthcare portfolio. Expertise in market and business knowledge, networking, effective communication, and successful agreement execution. 


Responsibilities:


  1. Conduct in-depth pipeline investigations, analysing current and future trends in the pharmaceutical market. Utilise relevant market reports and databases to identify gaps, unmet needs, and potential opportunities.
  2. Evaluate the market potential of specific therapeutic categories and ongoing pipeline projects, focusing on addressing gaps and opportunities within the EMEA market.
  3. Perform comprehensive market evaluations through desk research, market surveys, and visits to key opinion leaders. Gather feedback from internal teams and external partners to inform strategic decision-making.
  4. Conduct detailed reviews of the pharmaceutical market landscape, including identifying potential acquisition opportunities.
  5. Identify and assess portfolio licensing and acquisition options in alignment with the agreed-upon strategy.
  6. Develop and present profit and loss (P&L) statements and business cases for selected products to support decision-making processes.
  7. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with licensors, manufacturers, and other partners to ensure a sustainable portfolio for the company.
  8. Actively participate in pharmaceutical business development, portfolio management, and partnership conferences.
  9. Lead the negotiation and closure of product licensing and local acquisition agreements. Coordinate relevant business cases and internal approval processes.
  10. Track and report on new business development activities and project progress.
  11. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including legal, regulatory affairs, supply chain, finance, and group functions, as needed to support project objectives.
  12. Work closely with commercial, marketing, business development, and portfolio teams to conduct thorough pipeline and market investigations.
  13. Establish and nurture strong working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders to foster teamwork, enthusiasm, and success in project outcomes.


Requirements:


  1. Can be based in Paris or Dubai
  2. Bachelor degree (BSC Pharmacy)
  3. +5 years of experience as a business development manager or equivalent
  4. Ideally generic background
  5. Experience with product licensing, portfolio expansion, deals involvement, alliance/business development.
  6. Good connections with KOLs
