We're looking for a Head of EHS to lead and manage all Environment, Health, and Safety functions across our client's biopharmaceutical operations. This strategic role is central to embedding a culture of safety, compliance, and sustainability, while ensuring the health and well-being of employees and the protection of the environment.

This position oversees the development and implementation of comprehensive EHS strategies, regulatory frameworks, risk management systems, and sustainability initiatives. The Head of EHS collaborates cross-functionally with operations, quality, and facilities teams to ensure alignment with local and international standards, and to drive measurable impact in safety performance and environmental responsibility.

Reporting directly to the Group Quality Excellence Director, the Head of EHS plays a pivotal role in establishing the organization as a leader in safety excellence and sustainable growth.

This role is full-time on-site in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

EHS strategy and governance

• Develop and implement an organization-wide EHS strategy aligned with business goals and regulatory requirements.
• Establish governance frameworks and site-level objectives to ensure operational execution and continuous improvement.
• Monitor industry trends and best practices to maintain a forward-looking EHS roadmap.
• Lead annual EHS planning and resourcing in alignment with organizational priorities.

Regulatory compliance

• Ensure compliance with all applicable UAE, GCC, and international EHS regulations and standards.
• Engage with regulatory authorities, ensuring timely submissions, audits, and renewals.
• Conduct regular compliance audits and implement corrective action plans.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing legal requirements and industry regulations.

Risk Management and emergency preparedness

• Lead organization-wide risk assessments, incident prevention programs, and safety audits.
• Drive root cause investigations and ensure corrective actions for incidents and near misses.
• Develop and oversee emergency preparedness and crisis response plans.

Environmental sustainability

• Promote sustainable practices including waste reduction, energy optimization, and resource efficiency.
• Align environmental programs with ESG goals and regulatory disclosures.
• Collaborate with procurement and operations to integrate environmentally responsible solutions.

Occupational Health and Safety

• Oversee workplace health programs, PPE compliance, and site safety inspections.
• Facilitate ergonomic assessments and wellness initiatives.
• Champion a culture of health and safety through awareness, training, and leadership visibility.

Training and culture development

• Design and deploy EHS training programs tailored to all staff levels.
• Engage employees through safety committees and recognition programs.
• Integrate EHS competencies into onboarding, leadership development, and performance reviews.
