Manager, Lab Operations

We have an open position for a Lab Operations Manager, where you will oversee the daily operations of our client’s laboratory. This includes managing lab staff and handling the weighing and picking processes for procurement. Your management skills will be essential in organising workflows and overseeing the team to meet the operational goals.

The Lab Operations Manager is a key component in the functionality of our client’s laboratory. This position is critical for ensuring that processes run smoothly and that quality standards are consistently met. Effective management in this role supports the company's ability to fulfil orders accurately and on time, contributing significantly to the overall performance and reliability in the field.


Key Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Manage daily operations of lab personnel.
  • Monitor department metrics/current orders, and review with the team as needed.
  • Management of repository/picking process
  • Ensure proper updates for all repositories including misplaced and depleted vials.
  • Creates, implements, and updates department Standard Operating Procedures as needed and ensures deadlines are met.
  • Ensures all safety protocols within the lab are followed.
  • Strategic partner for the Director of Operations, providing support and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Ensuring the working areas are fully compliant with standards, including maintenance of fire extinguishers and eye wash and first aid stations are updated monthly.
  • Evaluate ways to improve the department processes to maximize efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and safe facility, including coordination of daily and weekly cleaning schedules, scheduling repairs, renovation projects, waste reduction improvements and safety inspections.


Key Requirements:


  • 5+ years of related experience (including supervisory roles). Some chemistry training is desirable, but not a requirement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field preferred.
  • Proven record of meeting deadlines and job requirements.
  • Effective knowledge of MS Office products especially MS Excel and database management tools.
  • NetSuite system experience a plus.
