Head of Legal and Compliance

As the Head of Legal and Compliance for Emerging Markets, you will be stationed in the Dubai office, reporting directly to the Executive Vice President (EVP) of Emerging Markets and functionally to the EVP of Legal and Compliance Global. Your primary responsibilities include providing crucial legal and compliance support to our operations in emerging markets. Your scope of work will be concentrated around the pharmaceutical industry, where you will guide and manage risk effectively, ensuring all operations are in line with local and international regulations.


This role is pivotal to our client's company's success in expanding into new markets while maintaining compliance with complex regulatory frameworks. You will serve as a cornerstone for ensuring ethical practices and navigating legal landscapes, thus playing a crucial role in the overall growth and stability of the company. Your expertise will not only ensure that the business runs smoothly but will also contribute to building a culture of compliance and integrity within the organisation.


Responsibilities:


  • Draft, review, and negotiate a range of agreements, such as in-license and distribution contracts.
  • Manage ending contracts, assess risks and obligations, and strategise to minimise impact.
  • Offer targeted legal guidance on pharmaceutical and healthcare matters.
  • Use your pharmaceutical know-how to align operations with relevant regulations in emerging markets.
  • Partner with external lawyers to represent the company in legal cases, coordinating strategy and internal communication.
  • Monitor and implement local laws and guidelines, including anti-bribery, data privacy, and export controls.
  • Must be fluent in English for internal and external communication.


Qualifications:


  • You should have at least 8-10 years of hands-on experience in the legal and compliance sectors, ideally within the pharmaceutical or a similar industry.
  • Extensive knowledge in crafting, negotiating, and overseeing contracts is a must.
  • Experience in handling litigation cases and working with external legal counsel is necessary.
  • Knowledge of legal and compliance norms in Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, and China would be a plus.
  • Exceptional skills in analysis, problem resolution, and both verbal and written communication are crucial for this position.
