Senior Medical Science Liaison

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (SMSL) role is a field-based position, responsible for the development and implementation of scientific activities to establish scientific leadership with key external experts. This will include developing relationships with key external experts, driving a proper understanding of the scientific value of our products and their appropriate use to address patients’ needs.

The Senior Medical Science Liaison will provide support to clinical development with investigator nominations, conduct clinical trials, deliver medical education and respond to medical information queries. In partnership with commercial, they will contribute to the development of the country’s strategic and medical plan to provide scientific support for internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the strategic directions and all field-based medical activities required for the successful commercialisation of the assigned portfolio within the KSA market aiming to achieve company objectives.
• Support implementation of the Product Portfolio Clinical Trials program, Pharmacovigilance and Medical Affairs activities.
• Provide the necessary support to the marketing and sales departments and other internal stakeholders for the product portfolio.
• Be a key player in the assigned TA(s), and maintain the scientific image among healthcare professionals and key external experts.
• Support governing the ethical practices of all medical activities in the assigned TA(s).

Key requirements

• This role is for a Saudi national
• Medical Degree or pharmacy/ science degree with PhD degree is preferred.
• 1-3 years’ experience in medical affairs within the Pharmaceutical Industry or extensive comparable clinical experience in the relevant therapy area is a prerequisite.
• Demonstrable experience and success in medical affairs day to day duties and responsibilities.
• Strong communication skills, with a high ability to effectively deliver messages and successfully establish relations with all internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience in the preparation and delivery of effective scientific presentations with good public speaking skills (speaking at scientific educational events, and congresses).
• Ability to analyse, represent and discuss scientific data in the therapeutic area with external and internal partners.
• High level of discipline, ability to organise the activity and to reasonably use the working time within the established independence limits.
• Developed skills in business planning, business orientation and working under dynamically changing conditions.
• Understanding of Pharmaceutical ethics and governance; and a clear understanding of pharmaceutical compliance policies and procedures.
• Basic financial and budget management.
• Experience with commercial product launches.
• Experience with commercial and/or government payers.
• Experience and willingness to travel.
