Head of Biology

Join our client’s team in a pivotal role where you will help shape a rapidly expanding portfolio of small molecule programs across diverse therapeutic areas, starting with oncology and immuno-oncology. This is a unique opportunity to build and lead your team from the ground up, working closely with a multidisciplinary group to accelerate the discovery of clinical candidates.

As the Head of Biology, you will play a critical role in the Drug Discovery portfolio leadership. You will collaborate with Program Leaders, scientists, the outsourcing manager, and the COO to drive the success of their programs. You will be responsible for building and leading a team, developing biological strategies, and ensuring the rapid progression of our drug discovery programs.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement the biological rationale and strategy for selecting promising internal drug discovery programs.
• Create and refine flowcharts to achieve in vivo proof-of-concept (POC) efficiently.
• Select, challenge, and troubleshoot CROs to ensure swift program progression.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership, contributing to complex operations alongside discovery program and technological platform teams.
• Recruit and lead a team of 1-3 exceptional Biology scientists, supplemented by relevant consultants.

Qualifications:

• Advanced degree (PhD or equivalent) in Biology, Oncology, Immunology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in drug discovery and development, particularly in oncology and immuno-oncology.
• Strong leadership skills with experience in team building and management.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans.
• Experience working with Contract Research Organisations (CROs) is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
