Director of Medicinal Chemistry

An experienced and senior-level medicinal chemist is needed for the position of Director of Medicinal Chemistry. This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate who has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry and has been immersed in drug development throughout their career.

The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience working in a medical research environment where they can demonstrate their proficiency in developing new chemical compounds, synthesizing them, and testing them for efficacy. They must also be able to use their expertise in pharmacology and drug metabolism to ensure that the compounds they create are safe and effective.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Establish a clear vision and strategy for the medicinal chemistry department
  • Set goals for the department, including timelines and benchmarks
  • Develops, administers, and monitors the company’s policy on medicinal chemistry and drug development.
  • Provide scientific, technical, and organizational leadership for research teams, which includes coaching, developing, and appraising team members.
  • Expertise in managing chemistry teams and working closely with drug-development scientists.
  • Formulating a plan to increase revenues through new product development
  • Analysing potential markets where your company could sell its products

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Medicinal Chemistry or related field, as well as experience working in large pharmaceutical companies.
  • Must be a team player who is comfortable working with a global team of scientists and managers.
  • A demonstrated ability to work with a team and independently, as well as excellent communication skills
  • Experience in managing internal and external chemistry teams as well as collaborating with DMPK scientists.
