Aspire Life Sciences supported a venture-backed AI biotech company with its search for a Founding Machine Learning Research Scientist in San Francisco. Following a Seed funding round, the company was building biological foundation models to improve the understanding of disease and support drug discovery.
As an early member of the machine learning research team, the scientist would work directly with the founders to shape the research direction and technical foundations of the platform. The brief centred on designing and training deep learning models for complex biological data, exploring novel architectures and representation learning methods, and building scalable training and evaluation pipelines. The research had potential applications in biomarker discovery, patient stratification and predicting therapeutic response.
The search called for deep expertise in machine learning research, strong Python and PyTorch skills, and experience training models at scale. Knowledge of biological datasets, such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics or biological imaging, was particularly relevant. This was a full-time, onsite role in San Francisco, with relocation support available.
