We partnered with a pioneering neurotechnology company developing advanced brain-computer interface (BCI) solutions. The organisation specialised in technology capable of recording brain activity at the level of individual neurons and using AI-driven algorithms to decode this data, enabling direct communication between the brain and digital devices. Their initial clinical focus was restoring communication for patients living with conditions such as ALS, spinal cord injuries, and stroke, with significant future applications across neurological and mental health treatments.

The assignment

We supported the search for a Quality Engineer who joined the company’s Quality team, playing a critical role in maintaining the effectiveness, compliance, and continuous improvement of its quality systems.

The successful candidate worked closely with both product development and manufacturing teams, providing quality oversight across the product lifecycle with a particular focus on software within medical devices. This highly collaborative position required a pragmatic approach to compliance, supporting the rapid development and commercialisation of innovative neurotechnology products.

Key responsibilities

  • Supported and advised engineering teams on quality and regulatory compliance throughout product development activities, with a particular focus on software engineering.
  • Provided quality oversight and guidance for manufacturing processes, including software utilised within production environments.
  • Reviewed, maintained, and updated quality documentation to support both product development and manufacturing operations.
  • Conducted risk assessments across products and processes, driving risk mitigation activities and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Supported company-wide quality and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Collaborated across multiple functions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the quality management system.
